2017 Interiors Trend Forecast
Our resident trend expert and Showroom Manager at our Wigmore Street branch, Graham Robinson, has just flown in from the IMM in Cologne, the first interiors show of the year. Here he gives us the heads up on kitchen interior trends for 2017 and how these can translate into kitchen design.
“2017 will see a progression of the neutral colour palette that was so popular in 2016. Adding a twist with either a natural element, a texture or a metallic accent is how interior design will be taken to the next level this year.”
These trends translate into kitchen design beautifully. Wood used in a kitchen can add warmth to an otherwise stark space and is an ideal way to integrate the kitchen with living space, for that all important ‘hygge’ look. ALNOSTRUCT, a natural structured wood door, has an almost vintage look that can be used as an accent or for a larger area of the kitchen, an island or a tall bank of units.
Neutrals can sometimes lack depth, especially in spacious, open-plan designs.
This is where adding texture by mixing contrasting materials and finishes can work to stunning effect. The ALNODUR range with its stone structured texture, natural patterning and ‘chiseled from rock’ look achieves this finish.
Metallic accents are still big news this year in interiors, moving on from the coppers and rose golds of the past few years, bronze is now getting its share of the limelight. The new Ferro Bronze, in the ALNODUR range adds a luxurious burnished glow to a room’s design, and looks stunning in combination with a high gloss neutral door to achieve balance in colour.
