What is a bespoke kitchen?

A bespoke kitchen is a kitchen that is made specifically for your needs, and requirements.  It is not ‘off-the-shelf’ with only a certain number of choices.  Your Halcyon kitchen is made specifically for you, with made-to-measure cabinets, carefully chosen appliances, tailored storage, bespoke finishes, worktops and lighting.

Read on and allow us to explain exactly what you can expect with a bespoke kitchen.

What does it mean to have a bespoke kitchen?

Having a bespoke kitchen means a custom-designed kitchen built especially for your needs, space and preferences, a space that will fit your space to the millimetre, and your lifestyle and personal style to a tee.

Elements of a bespoke kitchen

Here are some of the main elements you can expect from a bespoke kitchen.

Expert design tailored to your need

One of the very first questions we ask is “How do you want to use your kitchen?”  Is it a space for entertaining, is cooking your passion, or will it be the family hub of your home? Our first design consultation always starts with getting to know how our clients live so we can tailor the kitchen exactly to their needs.

Appliances

The number of options for appliances can be overwhelming, so we guide you through all the different brands and models to determine which ones will suit you.

Some clients tend not to cook from scratch so we would choose a simpler oven for them. As opposed to a passionate home cook for whom an oven with 13 functions, plus steam injection for baking and a meat probe for precision, would be essential.

When it comes to hobs – for the home chef who loves to entertain and cook elaborate meals ,the Gaggenau Vario 400 series would be perfection, with the ability to tailor their cooking area - for example induction, tappenyaki, and gas as part of one cooking appliance. For others, a simple but effective induction hob will be sufficient.

At Halcyon, we have a philosophy of using the best-in-class when it comes to appliances, often mixing brands to create the perfect combination for each client.  Our approach is to understand how the kitchen will be used and tailor the appliances accordingly.

For example, if a client cooks with a lot of spices, then extraction is going to be high up on the list. We may recommend the Belgian brand Novy, which has been an expert in extraction for over 100 years.

Storage and cabinetry

We are often asked if a space is too awkward to design, which again highlights why bespoke cabinetry is so important.

We work with two factories in Germany to ensure our bespoke cabinetry service is created to the highest standards.  Every piece of your kitchen is specifically made to order at these highly efficient and high-tech, family-run factories.

Our designs vary completely based on our client’s priorities - from spice drawers and pull out larders for the wonderful Indian chef, Dipna Anand, in her garden kitchen, to hidden doors within a kitchen to conceal a guest room, and dog bed nooks for pup-loving clients - right through to creating a kitchen suitable for a wheelchair user with varying heights and special appliances.

Benefits of a bespoke kitchen

Because everything is designed for you, the satisfaction you will gain from having a bespoke kitchen is long-lasting. From aesthetics to functionality every time you use your kitchen, you notice how your kitchen has been made to fit you perfectly.

Personalisation

We can create a kitchen to be completely personalised to you – from sunny yellow to a real concrete finish – the options are endless.  Or we can create a colour that exactly matches a  favourite scarf or piece of furniture.

Superior quality

Our kitchens use extraordinary materials of natural stone, steel and brass,  beautiful lacquered and concrete finishes, and specialist drawer boxes with hidden fittings  to ensure a luxurious finish.

Perfect for your space

Bespoke kitchens are not just built, they are crafted around you, standard kitchens restrict the design somewhat due to what sizes or features are available.

Because everything is made to order we don’t have that problem, no more unnecessary wasted space, a perfect flow to how you move, cook and entertain. This isn’t just a kitchen—it’s a perfect match for your space, your needs, and your style.
